Board
of Trustees
The Board
of Trustees is comprised of twenty to twenty-five community members,
both non-Hillel parents and Hillel parents. Trustees are
nominated to the Board by the Committee on Trustees and elected to their
positions at annual meetings held at the end of each school year. A
Trustee serves a renewable two-year term. The Board of Trustees meets
every other month beginning in August. The Board has several
sub-committees which meet in addition to this schedule.
The Board
has four principal responsibilities. The first is to organize and manage
itself so as to fulfill its duties to the school. The second is to plan,
develop, and establish policy, and assess the performance of the school
according to the strategic plan. The third is the responsibility for the
school's long-term financial condition and its physical plant. Finally,
the Board hires the Head of School and works cooperatively with that
person. Each year the Board must re-evaluate its goals and vision with
the Head of School, so that Hillel can continue to grow and prosper.
