Holiday and Prayer
Judaism
offers us a wonderful array of traditions.
We take advantage of all these times to bring Judaism to life for
our school community. Each
holiday is celebrated with creative and traditional methods, often
giving families ideas for home observances.
Children learn about each holiday in class and we often come
together as a school to celebrate. Our
Parent Teacher Organization plays a crucial role by organizing and
staffing in-school celebrations.
Throughout the school year children have the opportunity to become
comfortable in prayer services. Each
Monday and Thursday our divisions have services that are geared towards
the age of the participants. Singing,
stories and prayer repetition highlight our Primary services.
Our 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders
spend time learning the meaning of the prayers and becoming comfortable
in leading them. Our 5th
through 8th grade service is enhanced by using a student
created siddur, prayer book, and by having the children chant
from the Torah. Beginning in
the 5th grade all of our students learn trope, the
cantillation for Torah reading. Parents
are always welcome to join our services.
