Technology
Weekly technology lessons begin in
transitional kindergarten and continue through eighth grade. Because we
see technology as an important teaching tool, our 20 station state-of
the-art computer lab is used for both technology lessons and other
lessons such as social studies, math, Judaic studies, and language arts.
Every classroom is also equipped with computer terminals, and an additional lab is available
to middle school students. Each middle school student has an
account on the school network, which they access from home to work on
presentations, papers and more. A robotics program has
Hillel's seventh graders learning programming, engineering skills, and
working in teams to compete with other teams in their class. After training at a local
radio station,
eighth Graders are busy creating podcasts for the enjoyment of the whole
school. Read
Hillel's technology and robotics press release

Arts
Hillel weekly fine
arts lessons find students working with a variety of materials, from silk to
clay, and of course, paint. Hillel holds an annual art show that
highlights our students work, and a number of the works displayed in shows
throughout the county.
In addition to a
weekly music lesson, in which music history is taught along with tunes and
rhythms from around the world, a weekly Hebrew music class incorporates what
is learned during Hebrew lessons into song.
Hillel students also
have an opportunity to participate in drama, which culminates with a
spectacular annual play.
Library
Hillel's
10,000 volume library is the place for weekly library lessons where the
students listen to and discuss stories, write their own stories, and learn
research skills. During Recess our library is busy with students who
enjoy browsing or spending time with a good book in the comfortable
reading area. Twice a year the Hillel library holds a week-long
scholastic book fair, always very popular with students and parents
alike. We are also very proud of the Pila- Reiber Holocaust Memorial library which
holds books by Holocaust survivors and their children.
Extra
Curricular Activities
Hillel students are involved in many extra curricular activities. During the course of the
school day, Middle School students can be involved in Student
Government, Yearbook, Safety Patrol and Service to the School.
The
Hillel school campus is busy well beyond regular school hours, and after school clubs
are enjoyed by many students from all divisions. The after school clubs
vary and may include Tae Kwan Do, Chess, art, dance,
cooking, piano, violin, photography, and various sports for all ages.
Extended
Care
Although our school hours are from 7:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each
day, we realize many parents have work schedules that differ from this.
Our before and after care program allows children to be in our
supervised care from 7:00 a.m. until coverage begins on the playground
at 7:45 a.m., and from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., when the school
closes. There is an additional charge for this program and further
information is available at the school office.
